Mayor Kathy Sheehan reiterated her concern with $12.5 million for Albany not included in this year's state budget.
Sheehan delivered her 2018 state of the city address to the Common Council Thursday night. She hit a wide range of issues, including reducing poverty and homelessness and creating a diverse and vibrant community.
The elephant in the room, though: that gaping budget hole, and what will happen if it's not filled. Sheehan says the impact would be devastating.
"We have built $12.5 million into this budget, and if we don't receive that $12.5 million, clearly it creates a significant hole in our budget," the mayor said. "It will impact city service very deeply."
Sheehan maintains that the city needs that money to make up for all the state-owned, tax-exempt properties in Albany.
