Two men, accused of stealing $15,000 worth of jewelry, are behind bars. Police say one of the suspects, 66-year-old Paul Harris, is no stranger to crimes like this.

Harris and 26-year-old John Pietrzak are accused of breaking two back doors and stealing $15,000 in jewelry Wednesday at a residence in the 300 Block of Old Niskayuna Road.

On Friday, Harris was stopped by New York State Police in Albany. He had jewelry on him that police say is not related to this specific crime, but they say they’re looking into burglaries in other communities based on what they've learned from this arrest to see if they're connected.

Harris was arrested in 1977 on a third degree burglary charge and released in 1982. He was on parole, and then later arrested in 1984 for another burglary charge plus three other charges, including possession of stolen property.

After 11 years, he was arrested again, this time for second degree burglary, landing him in prison for 22 years.

"It does appear Mr. Harris, and to a certain extent his co-defendant, were involved in other burglaries," said Colonie Police Lt. Robert Winn. "They are suspects in a variety of locations. Mr. Harris is a career burglar who is on lifetime for other burglaries in the Capital District."

None of the jewelry has been recovered.
