COHOES, N.Y. -- More than $100,000 raised for the victims of the massive fire on Remsen Street in Cohoes was turned over to Catholic Charities on Tuesday morning.

Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse says that, from the firefighters who responded to those who donated money, it has been a team effort. Tuesday, they added to next piece of the puzzle with Catholic Charities.

More than $100,000 has been raised through fundraisers and donations. All of that money has been handed over from KeyBank, Pioneer Bank and CAP COM Federal Credit Union to Catholic Charities. They’ll begin meeting with those impacted by November’s fire and will decide how much money will be allocated to each person.

“We’ll be working with the Red Cross for the transitions for the case files, so we can begin providing our services and answering to the unmet needs, and also looking to see how we can provide resources that are already available," said Catholic Charities CEO Vince Colonno.

In total, 19 households -- or about 30 people -- will be helped by the donations. They ask anyone who may not have contacted Catholic Charities to please reach out if they were impacted by November’s fire.
