Governor Andrew Cuomo discussed a range of topics in Wednesday's State of the State address, but a number of his proposals were notably missing. Among them: a plan to look into possibly removing the tipped wage credit, which was just fine with some in the restaurant industry.

"One of the things that does is it hurts the industry," said Dominick Purnomo, owner of Yono's Restaurant. "It's going to hurt the quality of service that guests get. The pie is only so big."

The credits allow employers to pay their workers a rate under the minimum wage, with the rest being made up by tips.

"I'm not living in poverty. I make a lot of money. My kids go to private school," said Maggie Raczynski, a server and bartender at Outback Steakhouse. "I live in a big house and I won't be able to afford that if the tip credit is taken away."

Maggie adds that she likes being held accountable for the quality of her service, something she thinks won't be valued if the tip credit is eliminated.
