DELMAR, N.Y. – Bethlehem Police say human remains found on Saturday belong to an adult female from the Capital Region. After reviewing the autopsy, police say foul play is not involved in the death.

On Monday, Bethlehem Police, New York State Police and New York State Forest Rangers searched more than 6 1/2 acres of land as part of their investigation. Police say that search turned up a “personal item” belonging to the deceased. They are not releasing the identity of the woman until the next of kin is notified.

Authorities say on Saturday, they received a report of human remains in a wooded area behind Hoffman Car Wash in Delmar. It’s believed the body has been there since September. The woman was never reported missing, and police say she was known to walk around the Capital Region.

Bethlehem Police Commander Adam Hornick says police received more than 75 leads in the case. They will continue to look into them as the investigation continues.
