GLENMONT, N.Y. -- More than 250 boxes of Christmas cards are on their way to troops deployed across the world. Those boxes were unloaded at the Glenmont Post Office Saturday before getting shipped.

A long line of volunteers, including members of the Elsmere and Selkirk fire companies helped out. The organization 'Battlefield and Beyond' has been organizing this event for more than a decade.

In addition to the cards, care packages of snacks, socks, and homemade pillows were also shipped. The boxes are being sent to troops in a number of countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Japan, and to the men and women aboard the USS Ronald Reagan.
