ALBANY, N.Y. — Washington Park will be full of holiday cheer Friday night as the 21st annual Capital Holiday Lights in the Park kicks off

The Albany tradition includes 126 different displays with LED lights, animations and sound activations.

Walk through to admire the lights, and go inside the lake house to visit with Santa and other holiday characters.

Proceeds go to the Albany Police Athletic League.

"We call it the 'ooh and aah factor,'" said Lenny Ricchitui, Albany PAL executive director. "When you're sitting in the back of the car, every turn you make, every hill you climb, every tree you go around, the kids are in the back literally 'ooh ahh.' And that's what we look for. Those families come back year after year at a time where people don't you know there's not as much tradition as might have existed when you were younger, when I was younger, and the family environment. It's good to know we're a part of that traditions for families. They make sure they come together in the hustle and bustle during the holidays."

The lights will be on display Sundays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

To see the lights, it costs $20 per car.

Discounted tickets are available at Price Chopper-Market 32.
