SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Joe Biden says he wrote his new book "Promise Me, Dad" for two reasons. The first is to make sure people know about the man his late son Beau was; the second is to give hope to people facing hardship.

"Promise Me, Dad" was released last week. In it, Biden discusses Beau’s battle with cancer. Beau Biden died in 2015. The story is told chronologically, with the former VP also discussing his role in the Obama administration and his decision not to run for president in 2016.

Biden barely discussed the Trump administration Monday night, but was asked if he will run for the White House in 2020.

When asked, Biden told the packed audience, "I'm not tell you I'm not going to run," explaining that he is still grieving the loss of Beau and has not made a decision.
