MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. -- Several people have been displaced following an early morning fire in Mechanicville.
It broke out around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on Saratoga Avenue.
Crews say when they arrived flames were shooting out of the second and third floor of the building.
Between 15 and 20 people are out of a home as a result of the fire, but no one was injured.
"We made sure the occupants were out of the home once that occurred we made an aggressive attack to knock down and extinguish the fire. Because of the age of the building it did extend into the attic of the building it was very labor intensive for a period of time, but we were able to contain it to the rear of the house,” said Mechanicville Fire Chief Jeff Alonzo.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
