TROY, N.Y. -- An annual motorcycle ride had its biggest turn out in 19 years on Sunday.

The Toys for Tots Benefit Ride raises money and collects toys for Capital Region Toys for Tots.

Each rider donated to help the organization with their mission of giving children presents during the holidays.

Nearly 600 motorcycles participated in the ride, which began at Brunswick Harley-Davidson.

The Capital Region Toys for Tots campaign began October 1 and gives toys to children in 14 counties.

"This program gives kids the one happy day a year they may have so it's extremely gratifying,” said Tom Hall, the director of the Brunswick Harley Owners Group. “I’ve had the occasion to see some of the kids who get helped with this program. It is eye-opening, the level of poverty that exists in some of our areas.”

The riders took a moment to remember beloved New York State Trooper Timothy Pratt who was hit and killed by a car last October. He was dedicated to riding his motorcycle in this event.

The Capital Region Toys for Tots campaign continues through December 23.

They are collecting new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations.
