Two pilots were recognized for their heroism from governor's office after they rescued two missing hikers last year.

Technical Lieutenant Peter McLain and Technical Sergeant Brian Rumrill each received a Certificate of Exceptional Valor from Governor Andrew Cuomo Thursday.

McLain and Rumrill flew a helicopter that rescued two missing hikers after two nights in the Adirondacks in December.

The pair and 11 others were nominated for New York State's Police Officer of the Year Award.

Syracuse Police Officer Kelcey Francemone ultimately received the top honor.

She's the first woman to be honored as the sole recipient of the award.
