New York State Office of General Services crews made quick work of removing graffiti from the General Philip Henry Sheridan statue in East Capitol Park.

The statue was vandalized with anti-colonization language. State Police are investigating.

General Sheridan led a Union cavalry unit to several Civil War victories, and remained in the Army, fighting alongside Colonel George Custer in the Great Sioux War.
