FORT EDWARD, N.Y. — Police in Fort Edward are still looking for a man who allegedly threatened to kill their chief.

It's possible Devin Pratt has left the area, driving west in a rented black Ford Focus, said Fort Edward Police Chief Justin Derway.

Pratt was questioned by police Tuesday afternoon about an assault rifle he reportedly took to a neighbor's house after an incident involving his dog. Shortly after Pratt was released, he disappeared.

Derway learned later Tuesday afternoon that Pratt had been threatening to kill him. A local school and town hall were placed on lockdown as a precaution. Derway said he didn't want anyone else to get hurt if Pratt was actually targeting him.

Derway said he knows Pratt and called this behavior "unusual." He added that Pratt's family and friends have expressed concern for Pratt's behavior in recent weeks.
