WILTON, N.Y. -- A dog is dead and a teen is recovering Saturday after being hit by a train in Wilton.

State police say a 17-year-old boy was trying to get his dog off the train tracks behind his home in the area of Maple Avenue and Daniels Road.

The dog was hit and killed by the northbound Amtrak train and the teen was hit with a "glancing blow" and has a broken wrist, but should otherwise be OK.

Troopers say they have wrapped up their investigation other than a follow-up with the victim.

Amtrak did not immediately return a request for comment.
