MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. -- Mechanicville police say a 19-year-old man was killed Monday night in his driveway. It's the city's first homicide since 1997.

Police say David Feliciano recently moved to Mechanicville from Clifton Park, and that he was home alone when multiple shots rang out.

"I was sitting out on my porch and everything was going on; next thing I know, every cop in New York state was here," said Frank Steckler, a neighbor.

Steckler is one of many residents on edge. Police say the shooting happened at around 8:45 p.m. at 44 Grove Street.

When they got to the scene, officers found a man shot in the torso in his driveway; he later died. Police have identified the victim as 19-year-old David Feliciano.

“We do not have a suspect, but we are following several leads," said Mechanicville Police Department Chief Joseph Waldron.

Police say Feliciano recently moved to the home from Clifton Park. He was living there with his girlfriend, but he was home alone when the shooting happened.

On Tuesday morning, a forensic team was going through the house.

"We're looking for any evidence that will assist us in solving this crime,” Waldron said.

Police say it wasn't a drive-by shooting; however, they wouldn't say if this was targeted or random.

Police believe the public is safe, but some neighbors disagree.

"Everybody should be worried there is somebody out there with a gun, shooting people, apparently,” said Steckler.

"Obviously, it's unnerving in a community of this size, but rest assured we're doing everything we can and we're bring everything to bear to get this case resolved,” said Waldron.

Police say they're seeking help from the public. Anyone with information, no matter how little it may be, is asked to contact Mechanicville police.
