GLENVILLE, N.Y. -- The state Department of Environmental Conservation is continuing to take public comments on a controversial development proposed in Glenville. The project would bring more than 200 units to the neighborhood, causing much concern among residents.

Prime Companies is looking to build a 228-unit development on 85 acres at Mohawk Avenue and Martime Drive in the hamlet of Alplaus. Many residents are against the project. They believe this project would immensely change their neighborhood and way of life. Residents are also concerned about the increase of traffic and enviroment impact.

The Glenville town supervisor says an environmental impact study is being conducted at the moment, which could take months to completed. According to developers, the large density is needed to cover the cost of the cleanup at the site.
