ALBANY, N.Y. -- One person is in custody facing a weapons charge and Lark Street is reopened following an incident Monday night.

Albany police say they responded to a call that someone was armed with a handgun inside 191 Lark Street around 7 p.m.

Parts of Lark Street between State Street and Washington Avenue were closed for several hours while police were negotiating with 43-year-old David Lester, of Albany. 

Police say Lester would not come out of the apartment and there was no one else was inside at the time.

The incident ended around 11 p.m. and Lester was taken to Albany Medical Center for a medical evaluation. 

Police found a loaded gun during a search of the apartment after his arrest, they said.
