A year after the deadly boat crash on Lake George during Log Bay Day that killed 8-year-old Charlotte McCue, the Lake George Park Commission unanimously approved a resolution to officially bring an end to the annual Log Bay Day party.

Alex West, the man convicted of driving the boat that hit McCue, and seriously injured her mother, was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison.

This year there will be no Log Bay Day. That's the message being projected loud and clear from all agencies in and around Lake George.

In the wake of last year's fatal crash the Warren County district attorney announced the annual tradition was over. The Board of Supervisors voted to end the celebration.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office agreed and will be stepping up patrols and conducting training exercises on July 31. They are working with the Lake George Park Commission to ensure no one tries to thwart their plan.

The commission voted Tuesday morning on a resolution to support those efforts and formally end the celebration.

The police do say they will effectively block the bay off from boat traffic.

Last year's crash was not an isolated incident. Police say that typically the day accounts for half their emergency calls on the lake for the year.
