CHAUMONT, N.Y. -- It's all hands on deck in Chaumont this weekend, with many different people helping out with the flooding.

Dozens of inmates from Cape Vincent and Watertown correctional facilities spent Saturday manually filling bags and getting them ready to be picked up.

By early afternoon, almost 4,000 bags were filled, but they weren't alone: The inmates were joined by members of the Air National Guard out of Syracuse, who worked with the sandbagging machine.

They say they plan to help out in Chaumont over the next few days and the inmates plan to come back again Sunday.

Town of Lyme officials say this gives other local volunteers a much-needed break.
