SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: Volunteers from local organizations spent time getting a special sports field ready for the season on Tuesday. The Jaime M. Adams Field is home to the Capital Region Miracle League. The field is the first of its kind in the United States allowing athletes with special needs and disabilities to play multiple sports. The founder of the league, Burke Adams, named the field after his daughter, Jaime. She passed away in September, but he hopes to keep her memory alive with this field. Local organizations, including NYSID, SEFCU and Schenectady ARC, partnered to upgrade the field with fully accessible picnic tables and improve the parking lot. The volunteers also planted a garden in memory of Jaime. Opening day is Saturday. The first game begins at 10 a.m., and a ceremony honoring Jaime is scheduled for noon.
