More than 30 car seats will be given to new families in need in the Capital Region, thanks to a $2,500 donation from UHY LLP. They'll also be given to families of premature babies, who may not have had time to prepare.

Baby Ruxin is the first to be given a new car seat, which is welcome news to his mother, Giana Mazotta.  She went into labor during this week's snow storm.

“As we got in the car it started snowing, and they actually sent us home,” said Mazotta. “Then we ended up coming back at 3 p.m., which is when the roads were just terrible.”

For those at UHY LLP and Ellis Medicine, it’s about addressing a community need.

“Safety is probably one of the most important things to do so this is why we try to support the families,” said Paul Milton, Ellis Medicine’s CEO.

For Mazotta, it was a great gift after a whirlwind of a delivery.

“Everything is so expensive now. It's really the perfect gift, especially taking him home. It's the first thing we're going to need,” said Mazotta.

Car seats will be given after an assessment by the hospital's nurses and social workers.
