ALBANY, N.Y. -- Aspen Albany, the new student-housing building across the street from the U-Albany campus is almost to full capacity in its first year of leasing.

Friday Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan was joined by GSX Solution's, Aspen Heights management and other project leaders, to hold a ribbon cutting welcoming the first group of tenants.

Located on Washington Avenue, the building has 150 units and 277 bedrooms.

The average cost of rent ranges from nearly $900 to more than $1,300, with individual leasing to all tenants.

Although geared towards students, the apartment complex is open to anyone who applies and qualifies.

"Aspen Albany has a lot of amenities that are available to all of our residents. We have a 24 hour fitness facility, we have two tanning booths that are available to our residents, and we have multiple study rooms, including free computer usage and free printing. We also have a game room,” said Stefany McBrady, General Property Manager.

The$ 28 million project created more than 200 construction jobs.
