The SUV swallowed by a sinkhole in Albany has been pulled out of the ground.

The sinkhole opened after a water main break near Elberon Place and South Lake Avenue Tuesday afternoon. That area will be closed for at least a week while crews make repairs, and people who live in that area will experience lower water pressure.

The city has established a water distribution center at 400 Hudson Avenue for those residents. The apartment building at that intersection was also evacuated for the night as crews continue repairs.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter for those displaced residents at the First Assembly of God Church on Krumkill Road. There's no word on when residents will be allowed back inside their home, because crews are concerned that the sinkhole could widen.
