TROY, N.Y. -- Of 10 charges, the jury found Jacob Heimroth guilty of six of them Tuesday -- from burglary to second degree murder, but not murder in the first degree.

"They're resolving that the facts didn't support that Jake went there to intentionally kill anyone, but he was present while someone was killed during a burglary, which gave them felony murder," Rensselaer County Assistant District Attorney Andrew Botts said.

In court, the 35-year-old Heimroth turned to his family and said "It's all right."

He's likely to be in jail for the rest of his life, while Daniel Reuter -- also convicted of killing Maria and Allen Lockrow two years ago -- was only sentenced to 40 years. He took a plea deal with the promise to testify against his childhood friend.

The defense tried to argue that Reuter committed the crime alone, but according to Botts, the jurors said the neighbor who called 911 was the corroboration they needed.

The guilty verdict will never bring Joe Reilly's brother Allen back, but it brings a little solace to a family that's waited a long time for this day.

"My brother was the kindest guy you'd ever meet," Reilly said. "Good-hearted, wouldn't hurt nobody."

Each second degree murder charge holds a sentence of 25 years to life. Heimroth's sentencing hearing will be September 15 at 9 a.m.
