SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A special new playground is open in Schenectady.

The playground at the Early Childhood Education Center has a soft, bouncy ground and is completely accessible for physically disabled children.

Local officials, students and families were on hand for a ribbon cutting and grand opening Wednesday.

The Schenectady Police Department along with several local businesses helped pay for the playground and school employees said the children are already enjoying their new play area.

"We now have a surface where the kids have used it. They love it. They don't want to leave it and we're delighted to have it so all the children can really practice all those motor skills. So it's exciting,” said Marsha Williams, early Childhood education center executive director.

The new playground is just the latest of several renovations the Schenectady chapter has undergone since opening in 2015, like new improved classrooms.
