ALBANY, N.Y. -- One of the former UAlbany students accused of falsely reporting a racial attack on a CDTA bus earlier this year has agreed to a plea deal
Alexis Briggs originally pleaded not guilty to charges that included assault and false reporting. She, and two other women, Asha Burwell and Ariel Agudio, claimed they were the victims of a racial attack. But, investigators say witness statements and the video showed the three were actually the aggressors.
Briggs took a deal Tuesday, pleading guilty to a violation of disorderly conduct. She'll be required to perform 100 hours of community service within the next 10 months.
“Today Ms. Briggs took responsibility for her conduct and publicly recognized the impact that her actions have left on our community. Her apology to the University community and to the students affected by this incident will enable her to move forward to the bright future that lies ahead of her," Albany County DA David Soares said in a statement.
Last week, Burwell and Agudio rejected plea deals.
