Fire investigators spent Friday morning combing the scene of an overnight fire that broke out at the same home of Wayne Best, the man who was shot dead outside that home more than a year ago. Michael Howard has more.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The home that was the scene of a fatal shooting in 2014, went up in flames early Friday morning.

A woman had to be rescued by firefighters from the home at 1054 Parkwood Avenue when firefighters arrived around 12:30 a.m. Investigators have not said how badly she was injured. Three firefighters also suffered minor injuries.

"We got a report of possible occupants in the building, so we sent crews into the rear of the building, first-floor, second-floor, to do a primary search. Our second-floor crew found one female victim upstairs, helped her out of the building, she was transported to Ellis Hospital for treatment," said Schenectady Assistant Fire Chief Michael Gillespie.

This is the same home where back in December of 2014, Wayne Best Jr. was shot and killed during an attempted robbery.

Last month, police arrested two people, Christopher Johnson, 25, and Todd Macon, 29, on murder charges.

Investigators have not said if they believe the shooting and the fire are connected.
