SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: One in seven adults will develop chronic kidney disease in their lifetime. And the lives of nearly 470,000 people in the United States depend on dialysis treatment. Traditional dialysis therapy requires patients to visit a medical facility three times a week, and they can be there for up to four hours. That's a pretty big chunk of time taken out of a person's week. So Fresenius Kidney Care, which operates clinics throughout the Capital Region, is looking to make therapy easier by shifting the focus to at-home dialysis treatment. Dr. Vincent Carsillo and Lane McCarthy, the regional vice president of Fresenius, talk more about what's available.
