New York State is suing 3M and five other manufacturers to recoup cost of PFOA and PFOS clean-up projects. But some advocates in Hoosick Falls aren't happy with the decision.

That's because the water crisis there isn't being included in the suit. Instead, it focuses on contamination from firefighting foam in other parts of the state including Newburgh, Long Island and Central New York.

The state is seeking $38 million from those responsible for the unsafe drinking water to go to the DOH, DEC and DOT, while it makes no mention of Hoosick Falls, which has been dealing with the water crisis as well -- the companies Honeywell and Saint-Gobain are blamed there for contamination.

In a statement, the New York Water Project called out Governor Andrew Cuomo, saying he isn't truly helping those impacted. It said, "If the governor’s administration was truly doing everything in their power to protect New Yorkers, they would have delivered on the promise made to us two years ago and we’d have a new water source by now."

But the DEC says the state is working on a separate agreement in Hoosick Falls, specifically with Saint Gobain and Honeywell requiring them to cleanup the contamination and find an alternate water source for the community.
