A Waterford man is facing drug charges after Colonie police say he was found passed out in his car, with his young son also in the vehicle.

Colonie Police say a concerned citizen called police after noticing 24-year-old Alvaro Uruchima passed out in his vehicle in the parking lot of Rumors Salon Saturday night. When they arrived, detectives say officers found a straw with heroin in his vehicle and heroin bags in his pocket.

Authorities also say his six-and-a-half-month-old child was in the back seat of the car. Police say the child was turned over to his mother.

They also say they're grateful the concerned citizen gave them a call.

“We would encourage anyone who sees anything out of the ordinary to certainly give us a call," said Robert Winn of the Colonie PD. "They don’t have to give their name; just an anonymous phone call, in some cases like this one, a tragic event.”

Uruchima was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
