Albany police arrested a man after they say he injured an officer with his dirt bike.

Police say 21-year-old Jahquell Griffen and other dirt bikers were driving erratically Saturday night near North Manning Boulevard and Livingston Avenue. When officers moved to stop Griffen, he allegedly attempted to flee.

Police say the front tire of his bike struck an officer, knocking him backwards and causing him to hit his head on his police car. The bike then crashed into the car, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

The officer was treated at Albany Medical Center and released. Griffen is facing charges of assault and criminal mischief.
