Four police officers, including the Galway police chief, have been arrested in Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's investigation into the department's handling of training records.

Schneiderman announced the arrests of the officers -- Chief Leslie Klein, Sgt. Mark LaViolette, Sgt. David Goodwin and Schenectady County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Kirker -- in a press release Tuesday. They are, according to the release, charged with "allegedly falsifying documents filed with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services ... falsely documenting that certain officers either successfully and properly completed their required period of supervised field training or successfully and properly completed a Field Training Officer Instructor course."

The four men were arraigned Tuesday in Albany City Court, facing Class E felony charges of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree. Klein faces three counts, as do LaViolette and Goodwin; and Kirker faces one count.
