An alleged scheme involving a town justice, a financial advisor and more than $4 million: Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced the arrests Friday of Guilderland Town Judge Richard Sherwood and financial advisor and lawyer Thomas Lagan.

Schneiderman says the two men had a scheme in which they allegedly received millions of dollars they were responsible for overseeing. The alleged scheme involved estate planning as well as legal and financial services to Capital Region Philantropists dating back to 2006.

Sherwood and Lagan are facing a number of felony charges, including grand larceny, scheme to defraud and criminal possesion of stolen property.
