GREECE, N.Y. — A Rochester woman is facing charges and another suspect remains on the loose after an officer was hit by a vehicle in the Greece Ridge Mall parking lot.

Police say two shoplifting suspects were attempting to flee when the officer tried to stop them at the Mall at Greece Ridge Tuesday night.

As the two women tried to make a run for it, the officer was struck by their getaway car.

Police say the vehicle continued and hit a curb when both suspects got out and ran.

One of those suspects was taken into police custody: 24-year-old Gabrielle Thomas is facing a number of charges including robbery assault and reckless endangerment.

Police continue to look for a second suspect.

Police identified the officer as one-year veteran officer Jacob Phelan, who they say has no relation to Greece Police Chief Patrick Phelan. They say he is home resting and is expected to make a full recovery.
