At long last, the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge opened late last night to drivers on the eastbound span.

This comes after a controversial weekend--Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the bridge's grand opening Friday, supposedly to be made available to drivers Saturday, but this was delayed thanks to infrastructural errors, and a information obtained by the New York Times by the Thruway Authority show Cuomo pushed for the bridge's premature opening.

Assemblyman Tom Abinanti explains the matter further.
