State lawmakers have pitched bi-partisan measures that would give more rights to survivors of sexual assault. That includes having the Department of Health along with the Division of Criminal Justice create a survivors bill of rights. Also, ensuring that all rape kits are held on to for at least 20 years, instead of the 30 day maximum that exists now. Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas, sponsor of the legislation, joins us to talk more about it.
