Lawmakers are again considering several measures to reduce opioid addiction in the state. This year the End Overdose New York coalition is hoping to add safer consumption sites to the list. SCS's are also known as safe *injection sites and they provide people with a controlled environment to use pre-purchased drugs, including having medical staff on site. They are also meant to connect drug users with other services to help them quit. And several cities in the U.S. are in the process of opening up SCS's. Joining us to talk about the legislative push in New York are Laurie Quinn of Our Wellness Collective, Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, and Shantae Owens of Vocal-NY. He is also the parent of an overdose victim.
