Government transparency doesn't always come cheap. A new report from the good government group Reinvent Albany found that individuals or organizations who go to court over FOIL requests do not always get their attorney fees reimbursed- even when the judge rules in their favor. This comes as advocates push for the governor to sign a bill to require courts to award attorney fees in cases when there was no valid reason for denying the original records request.
