A school district that's under special oversight from the state education department because of the treatment of minority students is now also at the center of a lawsuit from the New York Civil Liberties Union. The East Ramapo School Board was accused of diverting resources away from the minority-majority public schools and to private schools, which are largely attended by white students. The education department is now involved in the budget process to make sure public schools are getting the funding they need. Meanwhile, this lawsuit is challenging how some members of the board are elected. NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman explains.
