Students at Hutch Tech should expect to be searched with metal detector wands again Friday as the school tightens security after a threat.

Buffalo Public School officials and a representative from the school confirmed Wednesday night that a threatening message was found in a classroom.

The note read: "Shooter WH was here, don't go to school on the 19th."

A spokesperson for Buffalo Public Schools said in a statement that a 9th grade student admitted to school administration that he had wrote the message, and said that he had no intent to bring harm to anyone.

The statement reads, in part:

"The Buffalo Public Schools, along with an obligation to educate all students, takes very seriously its role in keeping those same students safe. Hutch Tech administration, staff, and students are to be commended for working with local law enforcement in addressing this potential crisis.  The Buffalo Police Department and Buffalo Public Schools Security performed their safety procedures in the most professional and efficient way.  Kudos to all who were involved in maintaining building safety."

Police were notified and began investigating immediately.

The school’s principal released a statement to parents saying in part: “Please impress on your children the significance of making a threat — be it a prank or real — and the dire consequences it can bring to the individual who made it.”
