One person was killed in a house fire in Jamestown early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to a home on Carey Place just after 1 a.m. Thursday and were notified when they arrived that a person might be inside.

They found 74-year-old Patrick Reilly inside the house on the second floor. Reilly, the house’s only occupant, was taken to WCA Hospital by ambulance but later died.

An autopsy will be performed but Jamestown Fire Department officials believe he died from smoke inhalation.

Firefighters believe the blaze was started by an electric space heater being used too close to flammable objects.

The fire was contained to the second floor of the house.
