With flu cases on the rise across the country, local health officials urge people to get vaccinated.

Erie County Health Commissioner Gale Burstein says she expects to see a higher number of cases this flu season.

She says over the past few years, Buffalo and Erie County have seen an abnormally low number of influenza cases.

This year, state health officials say there have been 1,800 confirmed cases across New York, with 600 people ending up in the hospital.

More information on where to get vaccinated is available on the Erie County Department of Health's website.
