Former Trump campaign adviser Michael Caputo, of East Aurora, says he feels accomplished after he testified in front of Congress.

Caputo returned home Sunday night after he testified about his ties to Russia and his time working with the Trump campaign as part of the House Intelligence Committee's investigation into Russian meddling in the U.S. election.

Lawmakers wanted to know whether President Trump or anyone on his campaign ever mentioned Russia — something Caputo has strongly denied.

Despite his nearly four-hour testimony, Caputo said he believes his role in the investigation is far from over.

"I think this investigation could shift into another direction. If it does, it will leave me behind, but it will still stop the president and I really want this to end so he can get his agenda going," said Caputo.

Before Caputo flew back to Western New York, the president tweeted his support for the political operative.
