As Section VI football enters the second half of its regular season, Class A looks strong with three teams boasting undefeated records through four weeks.

Two of those squads, West Seneca East and South Park, will be facing off on Friday in this week’s Spectrum Game of the Week.

The game is a rematch of last season’s Section VI semifinals in which South Park took down the Trojans 36-6. The Sparks would go on to fall in the Section VI final 27-18 to West Seneca West.

South Park head coach Tim Delaney is confident that his team has the tools to make another deep playoff run.

“We always feel like if things go our way, we definitely can go deep every year,” said Delaney. “In order to do that, you’ve got to beat some good teams and West Seneca East is certainly one of those teams.”

Delaney’s own team is not too bad itself. South Park has gotten off to its undefeated start by holding their opponents to an average of just seven points per game. Their average margin of victory is 21 points.

“We’ve got to come out the same way we did last year,” said Sparks quarterback Dabeyon Humphrey. “Fast, physical, aggressive and hopefully we get the win.

West Seneca East’s attack comes through the legs of running back Shaun Dolac. The senior piled up 265 rushing yards and three touchdowns in last week’s 59-22 win over Starpoint.

The Trojans, like the Sparks, have gotten to their 4-0 record in dominant fashion. West Seneca East’s offense has averaged 41 points per game through four weeks and their average margin of victory is 25 points.

Friday’s clash will take place at All High Stadium. Coverage starts at 7:30 p.m. on Spectrum News.
