Mike Rigerman continued his prodigious senior season as Pioneer pounded Cheektowaga 33-14 in Spectrum News’ Game of the Week. The senior ran the ball 30 times, totaling 248 yards and four touchdowns against a defense that had kept its opponents scoreless for 159 minutes before Pioneer’s opening touchdown. Friday’s game was scoreless until Tyler Ely broke through for a 99-yard score in the middle of the second quarter.

The Warriors got onto the scoreboard in the third quarter, thanks to a three-yard touchdown rush from Keshone Beal. Rigerman responded with two more rushing scores in the third quarter; Rigerman’s first touchdown of the day came on a toss play from six yards out, with Rigerman dragging multiple Cheektowaga defenders into the end zone. Later in the third, Rigerman ran up the middle for a one-yard touchdown, building up Pioneer’s lead to 20-7.

After Cheektowaga closed the gap to 20-14, Rigerman tacked on two more rushing touchdowns to keep the Warriors at bay. Rigerman rumbled for a 64-yard touchdown that gave the Pioneer a 26-14 lead. Rigerman’s final touchdown was a 26-yard scamper that put Pioneer on top 33-14, which held as the final score.
