HILTON, N.Y. — Lou DePrez's wrestling journey has taken him from Hilton to Binghamton University and now to the international stage.

DePrez was selected to represent the US at 86 kilos during the upcoming World Junior Championships.

"There was an open tournament that we went to and I won that. So I was automatically in the finals for trials," he said.

DePrez spent part of his summer preparing for the event at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

"The competition there is the best in the country,” he said. “We got to roll around with the senior level guys then the U-23 team, everyone there is really good."

For DePrez the international competition is just a stop on the road to his ultimate goal, winning an NCAA championship.

"I think it's just one step forward to my future goals and it just shows where my training has gotten me so far. I think I can do much more with it," he said.

The tournament gets underway in Slovakia September 18th.
