My Thoughts:

Wide receiver was a crowded competition from the beginning of training camp. That added an element when the Bills acquired Corey Coleman from the Browns ahead of the first preseason game. But Coleman never showed even a flash of his first round talent during his brief time with the Bills. Yes they gave up a 2020 7th round pick. Yes they will take a $3.5 million dead cap hit by releasing him. But Sean McDermott is a results based head coach and Coleman had just three catches for seven yards in three games with the Bills.

Thinking Coleman was going to get cut, I had the wide receiver battle down to Rod Streater and Ray-Ray McCloud, with questions of whether the Bills would keep five or six at the position? They kept six, but while McCloud makes it, Streater doesn't in favor of undrafted free agent Robert Foster. This is the biggest surprise, in my opinion, of any move today. Foster came out the gate hot at St. John Fisher College, but once the pads came on the Alabama product faded. My thinking here has to be that the Bills acquired Coleman looking for speed and when he didn't work out, that shifted things towards Foster as their vertical threat. Streater is 30 years old and while more reliable now, doesn't have the dynamic ceiling of Foster. By no means do I think Brandon Beane is done looking for help at wide out.

The other big position group in doubt was tight end, where Nick O'Leary is the odd-man-out. The Bills keep four, a direct product of not only have Brian Daboll likes to run things on offense, but also the new kick-off rules. Logan Thomas has continued to improve in his transition from quarterback, giving the Bills a large redzone target that has gotten better as a blocker. Jason Croom had a great preseason and Khari Lee is solid blocking. We've seen what O'Leary can do and it is average.

I thought De'Ondre Wesley was a tackle they would keep over Conor McDermott, with maybe Marshall Newhouse on the chopping block.

Defensively, let's go straight to linebacker, where last year's sixth round pick Tanner Vallejo is out in favor of Julian Stanford, who is currently dealing with a nose injury. At corner, Lafateete Pitts beats out Breon Borders, who had an interception against the Bears, and undrafted rookie Levi Wallace. At safety, fifth round pick Siran Neal must have shown enough down the stretch to make the 52 rather than the practice squad.

Never a doubt in my mind that Colton Schmidt would win the job over Jon Ryan, who got little opportunity after joining the team midway through the preseason.

Overall, keep in mind this is the initial  52-man roster. By the time the Bills take the practice field Monday more moves could be made. I think wide receiver and linebacker are two areas that could still be addressed.
