Forget fighting for parking at the mall or hoping Amazon and other online retailers deliver in time for the holidays.

Instead, take a short trip down to East Aurora and visit Vidler’s on Main Street, a Western New York staple that has everything from penny candy to old-fashioned toys and games and plenty of surprises.

But on top of getting a good chunk of holiday shopping done, making the trip to Vidler's is an experience in itself.

"I tell people you can't experience Vidler's online, you have to come here in person because if they're a first time visitor, they're overwhelmed,” said Don Vidler, co-owner of the store that’s been a local favorite since the 1930s. “The selection of the things we have, the sights, the sounds. We got Sandy the old horse and the popcorn machine and kids are squealing and laughing, it's a lot of fun."

Vidler's has extended holiday hours through December 22, staying open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
