Motor vehicles to get a license or ID. Now imagine how it might be for a person with a disability.

Just ask Tom Kilminster who took his son Tom to renew his non-drivers ID.

"I'd gone to the Eggert Road location a couple of times, saw the lines and the wait times, and felt we couldn't do this. IT would be very difficult for him to  deal with that atmosphere," said Tom Kilminster.

That's why Kilminster came here to the DMV at the Eastern Hills Mall for Erie County's Non-Driver event for people with disabilities.

"This event was started five of six years ago when a family member contacted our office and they had gone to the auto bureau and had some issues. Their daughter has autism and she contacted me and said (Frank) can we do something at the auto bureaus to create a better environment to help people specifically with disabilities," said Franks Camarrota, Erie County Office for People with Disabilities.

The bi-annual event allows people with disabilities to come and take care of their needs in a less stressful environment. Kilminster says that's just what his son needed.

"Much calmer. He would have been rather worked up and difficult to accommodate on a typical day," said Kilminster.

On a typical day at Orchard Meadows playground you can find kids having fun. Now thanks to State Senator Chris Jacobs and Orchard Park officials even kids with special challenges will be able to join in on the fun.

I'm very pleased to announce today that I have secured in the state budget $75-thousand to enable the town of Orchard Park to completely transform Orchard Meadows Playground. transforming it into the towns first modern day inclusive playground," said Senator Chris Jacobs, (R) 60th District.

The modifications will help kids with different abilities develop their motor skills, communication, problem solving abilities, strength, and coordination.

"I think this addresses some of our desires in the community and also in our school system to make sure everyone is included. That there's

no child left out. If they want to play at the playground they should be  able to come and play at the playground," said resident Jeannine Babcock.

The upgrades to the playground are expected to begin next spring and should be completed by summer.
