Waiting for the bus after a long day of work can be taxing, but now thanks to Buffalo Bus Boxes, people can take a load off.

"We're aiming at people that have long commutes or a lot of times there are bus stops with no place to sit. We wanted to work with the NFTA and help support them and give them added comfort while they wait," said Citizens for Regional Transit board member, Maddie McCauley.

Citizens for Regional Transit, a group dedicated to improving public transportation, commissioned 10 boxes and placed them at various stops around the city of Buffalo.

James Moffitt, better known by his alias "Yames," was brought on to paint each box with unique designs.

"It helps to place a bit of color in a very drab industrial corridor such as Niagara Street," said Moffitt.

On Saturday, the boxes were placed at locations across the city.

"Imagine someone who relies on public transportation to get to work — this is going to make their day that much more comfortable," said Moffitt.

Each box was handmade by a member of the Buffalo Fire Department and are sponsored by a local business.

They'll be out on streets through November 1 as a part of a pilot program.

If well received they could become permanent staples and bus stops all over the city.
